(Almost) everything about the supervision of Dutch Customs in the field of ‘the green environment’.

Every year Customs NL conducts many thousands targeted inspections in the field of what in professional jargon is referred to as ‘the green environment’.* This, for instance, revolves around the protection of live animals and plants and their habitats. This may include both exotic and indigenous species; in the latter case this often concerns cattle and agricultural crops. The inspections referred to here are practically always performed on the instruction of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, in close consultation with the Netherlands Enterprise Agency or the Netherlands Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority.

* This is in addition to inspections following ordinary reports made; these do not fall within the scope of the figures referred to here.
